From trading for Richard Jefferson to drafting DeJaun Blair, who seemed to be a lottery talent, in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft, the Spurs front office is clearly making a push for a final title with Tim Duncan as the team leader.

However, adding Jefferson put the Spurs in a position they are not accustom to. Normally, the Spurs ran their franchise around three eight-figure contract guys, which has been Tony Parker, Manu Ginobli and Duncan over the past few years, and surrounded them with lesser cost players that worked hard – making the DeJuan Blair pick that much more meaningful and brilliant. The Lakers Signing of LO Keeps the Drive for Five Alive

Lamar Odom has ended the biggest media circus of the NBA Off-Season by agreeing to a 4-year, $33 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, with the fourth year being a team option and $27 million being guaranteed. Odom was being pursued by the Miami Heat for a good time but when the Portland [...]

Eastern Conference Champs Add Brandon Bass

The Orlando Magic have added, presumably, their final piece of the puzzle, signing free agent forward Brandon Bass to a four-year deal worth $18 million.

Bass was also being pursued by the New Orleans Hornets and the Charlotte Bobcats among other teams.

Bass will add a very tough player to a team that lacked [...]

The Indiana Pacers Might Compete in the East This Season

It may sound weird, but the Indiana Pacers were only three games out of the playoffs in the Eastern Conference last season despite missing Danny Granger for 11 games during an important stretch during the season.

Granger signed a huge extension last season, their first round pick Tyler Hansbrough might be something special, and [...]

The Miami Heat Almost Traded Beasley, Chalmers

Now that the draft is over, rumors and deals that fell through are starting to trickle out as most teams are set with the picks they have made.

Some initial reactions were negative, which [...]

It will through off some people who think the line-up must be made up of one player from [...]

Olympians, All-Stars Headline NBA All-Defensive Team

For Team USA, the staple point for success in the 2008 Summer Olympics was defense. Thanks to their defensive play, the United States took home gold and returned the title of best in the world to the US-born players.

Well, that defensive mindset must have carried over to the NBA regular season, as four [...]

This game isn’t very hard to describe. It was amazing, fast paced, clutch, exciting, thrilling, physical, and so on and so forth.

After playing 6 quarters of basketball, the Bulls and Celtics found themselves tied at 118-118. During the third overtime, Ben Gordon amd Kendrick Perkins had fouled out, and each team was sticking [...]

Attacking the Boards: The Western Conference Race Is Heating Up

Boston 80 – San Antonio 77: The Spurs losing pretty much secures the Lakers as the #1 seed in the West, and shows Los Angeles is the only team in the NBA that can beat all of the rest. Kevin Garnett made his return for the Celtics, but played just 15 minutes. Rajon Rondo [...]
