Boy Those Triple Crown Hopes Stopped Quickly: Albert PujolsSo, since the All-Star Break, Albert Pujols has lost his chances of winning a triple crown. Hanley Ramirez leads the NL in batting average with a .348 clip (.332 for Albert), Mark Reynolds has tied him for the most homers in the NL with 36, and though Pujols leads the league with 100 RBIs, Prince Fielder sits just a couple away at 98.  However, he's still our MVP, and he's now driven in 100 runs for the ninth straight season. We'd take him over anybody, but that Hanley Ramirez kid is a close second. [St. Louis Today] (0)(12053)

Prince Fielder-Gate: "Major League Baseball spokesman Pat Cortney confirmed this morning that Bob Watson, baseball's chief disciplinarian, is investigating Tuesday night's altercation in which Milwaukee Brewers slugger Prince Fielder tried to enter the Dodgers' clubhouse. Fines and suspensions could result from the first baseman charging into a tunnel underneath the stadium after Dodgers reliever Guillermo Mota hit him with a pitch during the ninth inning of the Dodgers' 17-4 victory at Dodger Stadium." MLB Regular Season Wrap-Up: NL MVP Race

The typical stereotype is that the National League is inferior to it’s younger brother when it comes to hitting the ball out of the ballpark. However, at least for this season, the sluggers in the senior circuit brought more power with their punch.

In the pre-season, I listed Ryan Braun, Albert Pujols and Ryan [...]

You Can Just Hand Him The Cy Young Now

As much as it pains me to say it, St. Louis Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter has got to be a lock to win the National League Cy Young Award this season. I have been making every excuse possible to give the award to Tim Lincecum, but now, the writing is on the wall.

Carpenter [...]

Prince Fielder Might Have Killed Someone Last Night

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder was restrained by security guards and his teammates as he tried to enter into the Los Angeles Dodgers clubhouse after last night’s game between the two clubs.

Here is how the whole fiasco went down:

The trouble started when Manny Ramirez was hit by a pitch in the [...]

At Least Brandon Inge Wasn’t the Only Embarrassed Slugger

So, Brandon Inge did end up hitting zero jacks like I predicted; however, he was not the only one that failed to put on a show. Adrian Gonzalez only powered out two homers and Albert Pujols barely made it out of the first round.

Nelson Cruz almost won it for me, but his performance [...]

I’ll Take Nelson Cruz in the 2009 Home Run Derby

Even though Albert Pujols,  whom I will have piece on tomorrow, is playing host I’ll take slugging outfielder Nelson Cruz of the Texas Rangers. Partially a homer pick but we think he’ll pull it out in the Finals against Pujols.

A couple other predictions:

Brandon Inge doesn’t deserve to be in the event, and [...]

Yes, Brandon Inge is In the Home Run Derby

Albert Pujols, Ryan Howard, Prince Fielder, and Adrian Gonzalez. While all first baseman, those are the NL sluggers that will be participating in the 2009 State Farm Home Run Derby. It’s quite an impressive group, with Pujols having 32 jacks, Howard having 22, Fielder having 22 and Gonzalez having 24.

However, it’s a different [...]

Albert Pujols Tops All Voter Getters On All-Star Ballots

The vote for your favorite MLB players is over and the starters for both the American and National League are set.

To no one’s surprise , Albert Pujols registered the most votes, while playing for the team that will host the game. He collected 5,397,374 votes, the second highest total in MLB history behind [...]

Short Hops: Ryan Braun Would Like to Dominate Your Fantasy Baseball Team

Milwaukee Brewers 14 – Cleveland Indians 12: Talk about filling the stat sheet. Ryan Braun went 3-for-5 with a two run homer, a two-run triple and an RBI infield single. Braun also stole a base and scored four runs. With only him playing, he put my fantasy team up 8-0 for day one. Prince [...]
