Former Texas Tech safety Darcel McBath was selected by the Denver Broncos with the 48th overall pick in today’s draft.
Scouts Inc. had Darcel rated as the 101st player in the draft.
Last season, McBath was tied for #1 in the nation with 7 interceptions. Darcel was the defensive leader of the Red Raider secondary and really produced for an underrated Texas Tech defense.
McBath is praised for his lateral speed when it comes to covering both sides of the field as a safety. His hands are also very overlooked because he is a safety instead of a cornerback. That being said, moving to cornerback is a possibility for the former Red Raider.
Darcel with have the chance to learn from two of the best defensive backs in the history of the game in Brian Dawkins and Champ Bailey during his time in Denver.
