A bad year for AP awards, Matt Ryan is AP Rookie of the Year

I have already written a few articles on how the AP has messed up terribly on their sports awards this year. The selection of Matt Ryan for offensive rookie of the year is no exception. Ryan only threw 5 more TD passes than he threw INTs(16-11). “Matty Ice” doesn’t rank in the top 10 in any offensive categories, and it is beyond me how a QB can be named RotY if he has less TDs than his running back does(Michael Turner, 17). I know its a great story, but come on, those stats are not impressive at all.

Steve Slaton, Matt Forte, or Jonathan Stewart would be better picks. Matt Forte leads all rookie in yards from scrimage. Steve Slaton leads all rookies in rushing yardage. Jonathan Stewart has 10 rushing TDs, which ties him with Tim Hightower for tops among newbies.
