The Denver Broncos have officially traded Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears. In return the Broncos will receiver a 1st and 3rd round pick in this year’s draft along with next year’s 1st rounder and starting quarterback Kyle Orton.
The fact that Jay was traded came as no surprise as Denver said they were looking to trade him. However, the team that he was sent to was a little bit of a shock.
The Bears are a team with a lot of needs, mainly at quarterback and wide receiver. But every time a big name became available like T.J. Houshmandzadeh, they would pass. This time, Chicago took out all the stops in order to pull in a franchise quarterback that they have desperately needed for years. The move does cost the team two of their next 1st round picks, but the franchise has a terrible history of drafting players.
Cutler may not be too happy about his destination. Instead of having Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal to throw to, Jay will be targeting return specialist Devin Hester and Brandon Lloyd for 16 games a season. At least Cutler will have Orlando Pace to block the awesome pass rushers of division rival Minnesota, who now have the worst QBs in the division without a doubt.
