En route to a six overtime upset over Connecticut, Syracuse guard Jonny Flynn played 67 out of 70 total minutes. That’s 13 minutes away from playing two games in one night, or a night and an early morning. In those 67 minutes, Flynn had a game high 34 points.
Well, yesterday Flynn took the court against the West Virginia Mountaineers before tip-off and didn’t leave until the final buzzer sounded in overtime. That’s right, Flynn played all 45 minutes to help put his Orange Men over Pat White’s alma mater 74-69. Jonny collected 15 points and 9 assists and scored four crucial points down the stretch.
If you add it up, Flynn has played 112 minutes in two days which is the equivalent to four full games if you are playing regular minutes, and he is doing so at an extremely high level.
One can only wander how many minutes Flynn will play tonight against Louisville tonight in the Big East Championship game.
