Shawn Marion Dealt to Dallas In Four Team Deal

Shawn MarionThe Dallas Mavericks have landed free agent forward Shawn Marion thanks to a sign-and-trade deal that involved three other teams.

The Raptors have “signed” Marion and dealt him to the Mavs. In return, Toronto receives Devean George and Antoine Wright from Dallas, while keeping their middle-level exception safe. If you are wandering what the motive behind this deal for the Raptors is, it’s freeing up cap space to sign Hedo Turkoglu to a proposed five year, $53 million deal.

The other two teams are the Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies are receiving Jerry Stackhouse from Dallas and Quincy Dolby from Toronto. Some cash is headed to Memphis as well.

What the Magic get out of all of this is a $7 million trade exception that they can use in the future.
